Some Ways You Can Have Fun On Your Own While On Quarantine

Two words that most people won’t associate with one another are quarantine and fun. Despite a year and a half of quarantine, the number of Covid cases in the country remains high. Though the number of cases has thankfully been dropping, the country remains under quarantine.

Unfortunately, this continued isolation isn’t healthy for us either. Many are experiencing mental health issues not just from work stress but also from boredom and frustration. Trying to stay entertained while you’re safe at home has been the number one way to combat these causes of mental health issues for many of us.

And since we’ve covered the fun quarantine activities to do with friends in a previous article, here’s one for my fellow introverts. Having fun with friends during quarantine is very important, but sometimes you just need to have your me-time. In this article, I will discuss some of the fun things to do at home during covid 19 you can do on your own.

Binge-watch Your Favorite Shows

Binge-watch Your Favorite Shows

Let’s start this article with something that I know most of you are already doing. One of the most common fun quarantine activities is binge-watching all your favorite shows. From k-dramas to anime or documentaries and social commentaries, each of us has a different preference on which shows to watch.

You may then you’d say: “But binge-watching quickly becomes stale and boring!” That’s true, but there are ways to avoid becoming bored from binge-watching. One way is to pace yourself and know when to take breaks from watching one show. Doing this allows you to remain excited and avoid becoming bored from watching only one show every time you binge-watch.

Play your Favorite Singleplayer Video Games

Play your Favorite Singleplayer Video Games

Another fun activity that can help you stay entertained while you’re safe at home is playing video games. “But isn’t that more of a group thing?” You may ask. Well, not all games need playing with other people to be fun, especially if you’re trying to avoid “peenoise” online. Single-player games can be just as fun as multiplayer games for some people.

First, single-player games offer a much more immersive experience to gamers than multiplayer ones. It allows players to be in control of their characters and how the story progresses. And speaking of story, single-player games often have a better story to tell than multiplayer ones, where game balance and mechanics are more important.

For the record, I’m not saying single-player games are better than multiplayer ones. I’m just saying its advantages over multiplayer games. This article focuses on fun quarantine activities you can do alone, after all.

Read New Books

Read New Books

For those who prefer a more serene and quiet activity to do during quarantine, you can try reading books. I know this isn’t as popular as the previous two, given our modern tastes. But reading can help you learn new things and help us reflect during these difficult times. Who knows, maybe you’ll learn a new skill that can help you with work by reading a book.

The only problem with this is, how do you get books these days? Fortunately, many online sites offer digital versions of books to customers, such as Amazon, Fully Booked, and even National Bookstore. You can also buy physical books off Shoppee and Lazada as well.

Find or Practice a New Hobby

Find or Practice a New Hobby

Whether it’s yoga or learning to play a new musical instrument, quarantine offers the perfect opportunity for you to try out new hobbies at home. Don’t know where to start? Google is your friend here. There are plenty of written guides and video tutorials available on the internet that you can view to get started.

A hobby that I would like to recommend to the more literary of you is journaling. Journaling allows you to record and reflect on what has happened in your day. It also allows you to express your worries and anxieties into something meaningful and healthy as well.

Exercise

Exercise

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning this. Because remaining healthy is very important nowadays and with so little to do, why not try exercising? Exercising allows you to get back into shape after months of doing nothing but eat, work, and sleep. In addition, keeping your body in shape also makes you more productive at work.

The problem with exercising, especially for us remote workers, is where to do it. If you’re just doing simple exercises such as jumping jacks and push-ups, you can do somewhere within your house that allows you to move freely. Walking and jogging are also valid exercise options as well. Just be sure to follow proper health protocols when going outside.

Conclusion

Conclusion

And there you have it. Here are some fun quarantine activities that you can do to stay entertained while you’re safe at home. I know it’s tough right now, what with all that’s been happening. But we can get through this as long as we follow all health protocols and remain in our homes. I hope you’ll find new things to do at home during covid 19 on your own with this list of activities.
