Be honest with me, how many hours do you spend on your smartphones today? Don’t worry; I’m also in the same boat with you guys as well. Many of us use our cellphones or tablets so much that smartphone addiction is slowly becoming a thing now. Savvy businesses know this, and thus have designed applications, both for the ios and android, to promote their businesses.

Because of this trend, there is an increase in demand for a remote android developer job. As their title suggests, they’re responsible for online app development in android for their clients. Aside from this, their other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code.
  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable Java code.
  • Ensure the best possible quality, responsiveness, and performance of the application.
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and bugs.
  • Be familiar with code versioning tools such as Github and GitLab and Application Development Environment apps like Android Studio.

Due to the demand for their skills, the salary for a remote android developer job is rather impressive. A new online job for android developers has a salary range of Php 30,000 to Php 35,000. For experienced android developers, they can expect a salary range between Php 80,000 to Php 100,000.

If you’re considering applying for a remote android developer job, now’s the best time to do so. To help you become an excellent android developer, here are five tips that you should remember.

Thoroughly Test your Apps

Thoroughly Test your Apps.

One common mistake made by new online android developers is making half-baked apps. What do I mean by this? It means you’re publishing an app into the android play store that is clearly still in its development stage. Doing so not only tarnishes your reputation as an android developer but also the company you’re working with as well.

To avoid this problem, always thoroughly test your apps before publishing them. Having your app undergo alpha and beta testing allows you to know if the app is working as intended or not. Once you’ve discovered these issues, you must address them immediately before publishing your app in the play store.

Know the Android Design Guidelines and Framework Internals

Know the Android Design Guidelines and Framework Internals.

Before you even begin designing your app, you must be aware of Android design guidelines, popularly known as Material Design. These guidelines ensure that every app in the play store operates and feels the same as one another. With these guidelines, users can easily understand how to use the app and its functions.

Another factor that every remote android developer should know is the Android framework internals. One mistake that new android developers should avoid is being afraid to explore and get to know it better. If you want to improve in online app development, knowing this is a good starting point.

Don’t be Afraid to Ask for Feedback

Don’t be Afraid to Ask for Feedback.

Connected to my first point is this one. You won’t improve your work if you don’t know what your audience thinks of your work. Learning to accept criticism is a crucial life skill that you should have. Asking for feedback improves your work and confidence in your ability to accomplish your tasks.

Of course, not every criticism is constructive. You should also learn to separate helpful criticism from unhelpful ones. Learning to filter out unhealthy criticism saves you from unnecessary stress and anxiety in dealing with them. You can then use this energy to improve your work instead.

When asking for feedback from your audience, don’t just let it pass through one ear and out the other. Use the feedback you’ve gained to work on improvements your audience wants, not on what you think is best. After all, they’re the ones primarily using your app, not you.

Avoid Procrastination

Avoid Procrastination.

Just because it’s a remote android developer job doesn’t mean you can take it easy. Another common problem experienced not just by android developers but all remote workers, is procrastination. I know it’s hard to get motivated these days, but that’s not an excuse to slacken off and ignore your work.

One great way to avoid procrastination as a remote android developer is to remind yourself of your deadlines. And before you say it, that two weeks can disappear quickly. In my experience, it’s better to accomplish all your tasks early on so you can spend more time resting.

Learn to Communicate with your Co-Workers

Learn to Communicate with your Co-Workers.

An often overlooked part of your job as an android developer is collaborating with your colleagues. Like it or not, you will depend on one another to successfully develop the app for your client. Not only does communicating with your colleagues help you in your work, but it also allows you to know your colleagues better.

When communicating with your colleagues, don’t forget to contribute something to the conversation as well. The main point of socializing with your colleagues is for you to get to know each other. It’s not fair if your colleagues are the only ones talking, right? On the other hand, don’t dominate the conversation as well. Doing this could be seen as rude by your colleagues.

Conclusion

Conclusion.

And there you have it! Here are five tips that you should know for your remote android developer job. These tips may not seem much, but these are what allow you to work efficiently at your job.

Of course, these are not the only things you can do to get better at your job. There are plenty more that you will discover as you work. These are just the basics that you should have when starting as a remote android developer.
