Increase Your Chances of Being Instantly Hired With These Tips.

Nothing is more satisfying than getting hired instantly by your interviewer after just one interview. It shows that you possess the necessary personality and skills the company is looking for. And that you’re someone worth investing in by the company.

That said, impressing your interviewer isn’t easy, especially if it’s your first job interview or you’re easily nervous. When you’re face-to-face with your interviewer, it can be challenging to remain calm and gather your thoughts so you can answer coherently.

Not to worry, as we’ve got your back! In this article, I shall discuss the tips that can help increase your chances of instantly getting hired by your interviewer. With these tips, impressing your interviewer wouldn’t be as difficult anymore.

Be Prepared for the Interview

Be Prepared for the Interview.

The first and perhaps the most crucial step that you should do to instantly get hired is to thoroughly prepare for the interview. Preparing well helps you be more confident in presenting yourself and answering whatever questions your interviewer may ask.

Where should you start your preparations then? Start with yourself first, specifically your resume. Be sure to update it and ensure that it contains your skills relevant to the job you are applying for. Aside from your qualifications, highlight your other soft skills in your resume. Why? Because these help you stand out from the other candidates.

Next, do your research on the company you’re applying to. You don’t even need to do that much researching for this. Checking out their website or ads will give you all the information you need.

Don’t Be Afraid to Say You Don’t Know

Don’t Be Afraid to Say You Don’t Know.

A common mistake many applicants make is being afraid to talk about what they don’t know regarding the job. They try to go around this problem by highlighting their skills and accomplishments a little too much that they sound like they’re bragging. In some cases, they even lie about their actual competencies.

Ironically, not talking about the things you don’t know is a turn-off for interviewers. It shows that you’re complacent and not someone willing to grow by pushing yourself beyond your comfort zones. Of course, don’t just say that you don’t know. Be sure to emphasize that you’re willing to learn what you need to get the job.

Tell a Unique Experience Regarding Your Hobbies and Interests

Tell a Unique Experience Regarding Your Hobbies and Interests.

Believe it or not, another way to instantly impress your interviewer is to talk about your hobbies and interests and how they help you grow. As they say: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Despite what you may think, companies want to hire employees with lives outside their work, not just drones who can’t separate life from work.

Doing the things you love, such as playing video games or doing outdoor activities, helps you develop soft skills beneficial for your work. Sure, they won’t hone your primary work skills… unless you do programming as a hobby. But developing skills like patience, teamwork, and time management are just as essential as having the skills you need for work.

Now here comes the hard part: narrating your experiences in a way that will leave an impression on your interviewer. Try telling the story of how you developed your passion for your hobby or interest and how it positively influenced you.

Share Your Fails

Share Your Fails.

I know what you’re thinking: “Isn’t this supposed to be a list to impress your interviewer? Why should I tell them of my failed projects?” Before you start thinking that I’m messing with you, hear me out first.

Failure is part of work experience. It allows you to see your shortcomings and how you can solve them. So instead of emphasizing the projects’ failure, why not focus more on the effort you’ve put on it and the lessons you’ve learned? Telling these stories is a great way to show your drive to succeed and work growth, something employers seek out in candidates.

Talk About Your Future Goals and Aspirations

Talk About Your Future Goals and Aspirations.

Finally, having a vision of what you want to be in the future is another way to impress your interviewer; while improving your chances of instantly getting hired. Again, just like in my previous points, it’s not enough for you to share a vague and general plan. It must be concrete and includes how you aim to accomplish your goals while helping the company you’re working for.

How do you do this? First, set a clear and achievable goal that you can achieve in, let’s say, five to ten years from now. For example, my long-term goal is to earn my master’s degree in History. Afterwards, set smaller objectives that will help you progress towards your goal.

First Impressions Lasts

First Impressions Lasts.

And there you have it! Here are the tips to follow if you want your interviewer to instantly hire you. With companies opening their doors for applicants again, you will need all the help to stand out from the competition.

And the best way to stand out is to make an impression on your interviewer that will make them want to hire you on the spot. With that in mind, I hope that these tips will help you make a lasting impression on your interviewer.
