One type of worker that has been significantly affected by the almost 2-year pandemic, for better or worse, are single moms. For them, finding and keeping a job was already difficult before the pandemic. But it has become even more difficult now as many businesses shut down or downsize to survive.

And yet, the pandemic has also seen the growing popularity of online jobs for many Filipino workers. Just like remote PWD workers, single moms are turning to remote work to support the needs of their families. This is fortunate, as out of the 15 million working single parents in the Philippines, single moms comprise 14 million or 95 percent of them.

Aside from being a source of income, online jobs also offer benefits not found in a traditional work setup. Curious about what these benefits are? Then stick around on this article. Here, I will discuss the 6 main benefits that remote work brings to working Filipino single moms.

Remote Work Gives You More Time to Spend With Your Kids

Remote Work Gives You More Time to Spend With Your Kids.

Let’s begin with perhaps the most appealing aspect of remote working for single moms: the opportunity to spend more time with their kids. One of the challenges for working single moms is finding the right balance between their job and family.

With remote work, you can finally be present when your children need you and be a part of their daily lives. For example, you can now have a family breakfast and lunch together instead of just having dinner as your bonding time. In addition, it allows you to help your children with their adjustment to online classes as well.

Remote Work Helps You Save on Expenses

Remote Work Helps You Save on Expenses.

Another benefit of a remote work setup for single moms is that it reduces the number of your expenses. Even though our economy is slowly recovering from the pandemic’s effects, prices of necessities continue to rise because of the conflict in Ukraine. With this in mind, being able to save from your daily expenses, no matter how small, goes a long way.

One of the most significant expenses that you remove from your budget with remote work is, of course, commute fees. Aside from commute fees, your food expenses will be lessened as well, since you don’t need to eat outside anymore. Not having to worry about these expenses allows you to spend more on utilities and other necessities for your family.

Say Goodbye to Commuting With Remote Work

Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning not needing to commute anymore. One of the main stress inducers for many office-based Filipino workers is the hassle of commuting to and from work. Remove that, and you increase your productivity as well as improve your mental health as well.

Connecting this to my previous points, not needing to commute anymore gives you more time to bond with your children instead. And as I previously mentioned, not needing to worry about spending for your commute will ease your family’s financial burden as well.

Working Remotely Improves Your Mental Health

Speaking of mental health, did you know that one of the benefits of remote work is improving one’s mental health? Don’t believe me? Let’s go back to my previous points. For example, if you’re feeling tired from work, you can take a break and bond with your kids instead. Getting tired of commuting? Well, you don’t need to worry about that when working online jobs.

Why is it essential to have good mental health, you may ask? Having a healthy mind helps you make better decisions both at work and home. Aside from this, it also improves your self-confidence and reduces your anxiety.

Work Anytime, Anywhere With Remote Work

The ability to work anytime, anywhere is another of remote work’s features that makes it beneficial to working single moms. This lets you continue working for your employers even if you live far from their main office. All you need are a computer or laptop and a stable internet connection, and you’re good to go.

In addition, this flexibility offered by remote working lets you go out of town with your kids this summer and have with them while still working. You can spend time with them during the day, and then do your work shift at night, for example.

Remote Work Provides Equal Work Opportunities for You

Remote Work Provides Equal Work Opportunities for You.

Finally, one of the best benefits of remote work for single moms is that it provides equal opportunities to male and female workers. Gone are the days when you have to settle for a lower salary and fewer opportunities than your male counterparts.

With remote work, gender biases will only limit one’s talent pool. Employers know this; thus are much more willing to accept applicants, so long as they have the necessary skills for the job. Now, you can improve or start your career and earn more while in the comfort of your home.

Conclusion

Conclusion.

And with that, we are done! Here are the 6 main benefits that remote work offers to Filipino single moms. I hope that this article convinces you that remote working is not just a temporary substitute for office work, but instead, an alternative.

In fact, because of how convenient online jobs are, many are actually considering leaving their current work if it does not offer a remote or hybrid setup after the pandemic. If you are looking for online job opportunities, check out remote staff for any openings.
