Happy new year! More health, wealth, and happiness to you this 2023. I hope you all had a wonderful time with your loved ones during the holidays and are now refreshed and ready to face 2023.

And speaking of 2023, there are plenty of new things to try this 2023. New skills, new experiences, and even new people await you this year. As the saying goes: “New Year, New You.”

Sure, what you’ve been doing in the previous year/s has worked well so far. But why not take it up a notch? Doing so improves not only your work, but also your personal life too.

So, do you want to start making your 2023 bucketlist or add some more to your existing one? Here’s a list of new things to try this year.

Learn a New Skill or Two

Learn a New Skill or Two.

Nothing says “New Year, New You.” better than gaining a new skill this year.

These brand-new skills could be work-related, such as enrolling in a writing workshop if you’re a content writer. You can even attend seminars on becoming a better leader if you’re in a leadership position.

Or, it could be something unrelated to your work that you really wanted to learn, such as how to play a musical instrument or cook. If you have a hobby you want to get into, now’s the time to do so. Learning something new doesn’t always have to revolve around work, you know.

Whatever it may be, learning new skills helps you remain humble and eager to discover new things. Sure, it may be difficult at the beginning. That’s normal when you’re starting out.

But as long as you really want to learn and are willing to put aside time and effort, you’ll soon see results.

Visit New Places... or Just Get Off Your Couch Once in a While

Visit New Places… or Just Get Off Your Couch Once in a While.

One of the main benefits of remote work is work flexibility. This means that you have more leeway on where and when you work compared to the rigidity of an office job.

So long as your boss agrees to your requested schedule and the place has good internet, you’re good to go.

If you’re in this setup, one of the new things you can try this 2023 is to go on your dream vacations while remote working.

Besides being a relaxing experience, traveling and seeing new places can help refresh your mind and bring new perspectives to your work. This can be particularly helpful if you’re working in a creative job and are experiencing a creative block.

In addition, getting out of your usual workplace can also help improve your mental health. It helps reduce your loneliness and isolation from working at home all the time -while also providing an opportunity for a much-needed break from work stress.

Start Journaling

Start Journaling.

One of the most unique things you could do in 2023 is to start your own journal. Journaling is a great way to keep track of what’s happening in your life and reflect on them.

Besides being sentimental, keeping track of your life’s current events also enables you to assess whether you’re heading in the right direction. This helps reduce anxiety and set your goals for this year.

You don’t have to be an excellent writer nor have a perfect memory when writing your journal. Remember, writing a journal is personal, so you don’t have to worry about criticism.

Just don’t forget to write down anything you’d like to note that has happened to you everyday. It doesn’t even have to be life-changing. It could be as simple as getting praised by your boss for a job well done for that today.

Declutter and Redecorate Your Workspace

Declutter and Redecorate Your Workspace.

With all the excitement of welcoming the new year, it’s easy to forget many “small” things. One of these is decluttering your workspace.

Besides being hygienic, it also improves your mental health and productivity. After all, who would want to work in a place that looks like a dump?

And while you’re at it, why not do some redecorating too? Maybe move your worktable slightly to the right to give more space? Or perhaps you can add a new wall decoration to liven up your workspace.

It gets boring working in the same-looking room all the time, you know. So why not make your workspace more pleasing to work in this 2023?

Be Kinder to Yourself

Be Kinder to Yourself.

Another thing that you should leave behind in 2022 is all the negativity and self-doubt you got last year. It’s a new year, and with it comes new opportunities. Opportunities that you may be missing out on due to holding yourself back.

One of the new things you should try this 2023 is to be kinder to yourself. If you love cracking self-deprecating jokes, tone it down this year and focus on believing in yourself and your abilities.

New Year, New Experiences

New Year, New Experiences.

The new year brings new opportunities for us to improve from our previous mistakes. However, these will remain opportunities unless you seize them. The ones mentioned are just five new things you can try this 2023.

If you’re still looking for job opportunities this 2023, Remote Staff’s here to help. Just head to our jobs list to see the various online jobs you can apply for. Good luck!
