Everything You Need to Know About StaySafe.Ph

Last month, national authorities launched StaySafe.ph. As per the National Task Force Against COVID-19 and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, it’s the country’s official app for contact tracing, symptoms reporting, and social distancing regulations.

So, you may have gotten text messages recently asking you to sign up. Before you do, let’s take a look at some of the FAQ’s about this new app.

What Is It?

StaySafe PH is an all-in-one emergency response platform. It’s currently available for download on both Google Play and the App Store.

Who Developed It?

The full stack programmers from MultiSys Technologies Corporation synergized the complex analytics features behind the app.

What Are Its Key Features?

Here are the features that enable StaySafe PH to carry out its critical functions.

  • Quick and Easy Registration.

In line with the Data Privacy Act, you only need to provide your nickname, age, gender at birth, and mobile number. The app requires the latter so that local government units (LGU’s) and frontliners can contact you if needed. Your contact number also allows for One-Time Pin verification to protect you from fraud.

Basically, you won’t need to give your full name, real name, email address, and residential address.

  • Symptoms Reporting.

Once you register, the app presents you with a list of COVID-19 symptoms. You can choose any and all that apply to you from there. The app will then determine if you are at risk of being a mild or severe case or not.

In case of the latter, the app automatically provides health tips and reminders from medical experts.

  • Dynamic Geolocation.

For privacy purposes, users may choose whether to enable the app’s geolocation features or not. When you activate this feature, it reveals how many users registered with the platform are nearby. They, in turn, will also receive notifications about your presence.

Thus, this is how the app helps facilitate contact tracing.

  • Location Markers.

These show the accumulation of COVID-19 cases in a specific location. With this data, LGU’s can directly deploy their targeted responses accordingly. They may also use the platform for contactless issuance of quarantine passes and financial assistance (e.g., food vouchers).

  • Complex Analytics Presented in a Heatmap.

The heatmap takes the data from complex analytics and summarizes them in a quick visual that reveals areas with worsening or improving COVID-19 rates. This way, LGU officials can have quick updates at a glance so they can make informed decisions about certain communities.

  • Real-Time Global COVID-19 Monitoring.

Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) on COVID-19’s global status regularly updates the app’s dashboard. Its “World” view displays confirmed, probable, and suspected cases, cases by age group, case trends, and reported deceased and recovered patients.

As a bonus, users can view the data by case or in a 3D mapping layout.

  • A Dedicated Support Team for Users.

There is a trained help desk support team on hand for both admins and end users. Users may also avail of their assistance to contribute suggestions, volunteer to render services for frontliners, or to donate cash or goods.

There we have it. Should you like to download the app or learn more, click here to visit the official Stay Safe app’s page.
