Looking to renew your driver’s license without the long queues and hassle?
With the launch of the Online Driver’s License Renewal system through the eGovPH app, you can now complete the entire process right from your phone—and without having to visit an LTO branch.
Introduction to the eGovPH Online Driver’s License Renewal System
As part of the government’s digital transformation efforts, the DICT eGovPH app was developed to make public services more accessible by reducing in-person visits and connecting users to agencies like immigration, healthcare, and social services.
This all-in-one platform supports the push for faster, more convenient public transactions—including LTO renewal services that can now be done fully online.
The new online driver’s license renewal feature, launched on July 10, 2025, is a joint initiative of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
It allows eligible drivers to renew their DOTr license entirely through the app.
Step-by-Step Guide to Renewing Your Driver’s License Using the eGovPH App
Renewing your driver’s license through the eGovPH app is quick and convenient.
Thanks to the online LTO system, you can now complete the entire process from your phone in just a few steps:
1. Install and Set Up the App
Download the eGovPH app from the App Store, Google Play, or Huawei AppGallery.
Afterward, create an account — this includes providing your basic information, taking a selfie for verification, and setting up an MPIN.
2. Go to the LTO Services
On the main dashboard, tap “NGA” (National Government Agencies), then select “LTO”, followed by “Online Driver’s License Application → Renew Your Driver’s License.”
3. Complete Required Pre‑Steps (before uploading your license)
- Telemedicine Medical Examination: Book and complete an online medical exam via teleconsult, and receive your medical certificate.
- Driver’s Enhancement Program (DEP): Complete the required five‑hour online education module.
We’ll walk you through both the medical exam and the DEP process in the next sections.
4. Upload Your License
Capture and upload clear photos of the front and back of your current physical driver’s license.
The app then verifies the images within 1–3 minutes.
5. Submit a Facial Photo
Follow the instructions to take and upload a selfie for identity verification.
6. Review, Confirm, and Submit
Review your details and uploaded documents. If everything is correct, tap Submit.
7. Pay Online
Choose your preferred payment gateway (e‑wallet, credit/debit card, or bank). Pay the renewal fee and any associated service fees.
8. Receive Your License
After approval, your digital license—also known as the Electronic Driver’s License (eDL)—will automatically appear in the eGovPH app and can be used as a valid legal ID.
You can also opt to pick up the physical card at an LTO office or have it delivered to your home (usually within 3 days).
Pre-Renewal Requirements: Online Medical Exam and Driver’s Enhancement Program (ODEP)
Before you can upload your license and complete your renewal through the eGovPH app, you must first complete two key steps: an online medical examination, and The Online Driver’s Enhancement Program (ODEP).
Online Medical Examination via Teleconsultation
The LTO medical exam is required before you can renew your driver’s license. It includes basic health checks like vision and color blindness tests.
You can do all of this online through the telemedicine LTO service in the eGovPH app—no clinic visits needed.
- Under the medical certificate section, tap “Click here” to access the Telemedicine page.
- Select a clinic, register, and book your preferred schedule for a teleconsult.
- Fill out the medical history form and pay the fee.
- During the teleconsult, the doctor will perform a remote checkup, including a Snellen eye test and a color blindness test—all done online.
- After the consultation, you’ll receive your medical certificate, which you need to upload to proceed with your renewal.
Validity: The medical certificate is valid for 15 days from the date of issuance, so make sure to complete your license renewal within that period.
This fully digital process is quick, contactless, and ideal for remote applicants or those with limited mobility.
Online Driver’s Enhancement Program (ODEP)
Instead of attending a physical seminar, you can now complete the full program online (at your own pace) via video modules and interactive content.
Educational Compliance in a Digital Format
ODEP ensures that all renewing drivers are updated on:
- Road safety guidelines
- Traffic laws
- Driver responsibilities
This requirement promotes safer driving habits and is especially convenient for remote applicants, OFWs, and busy professionals.
How to Locate and Complete the Program
- Tap “Click here” under the ODEP Certificate section, then choose “Open” under Safe Roads PH.
- You’ll see a list of accredited online driving schools.
- Pick one, sign up, upload a photo, and pay the fee.
- Take the 5-hour online course, then finish the exam.
Once you pass, you’ll get your ODEP Certificate for the license renewal process.
Benefits of the Digital Transition
Digitizing the renewal process brings in a handful of key benefits:
Shorter Transaction Time
What used to take hours at an LTO branch can now be done conveniently on your phone. This saves valuable time for both citizens and government personnel.
Safe and Secure Transactions
Your personal information stays protected throughout the process. The eGovPH app uses DICT-grade encryption and AI facial recognition to securely verify your identity.
All data is shared only with authorized government agencies like the LTO, and the entire process is completed within the app—ensuring privacy, accuracy, and peace of mind during your online license renewal.
Transparency and Anti-Corruption
Online processing helps stop bribery and fixers. Every step is tracked and done through official channels, making the system more trustworthy.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
The eGovPH app expands access to online government services, allowing more Filipinos—especially OFWs, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities—to complete transactions using just their mobile devices.
Better Reach for Rural Communities
People in remote areas no longer have to travel far just to renew their driver’s license.
With online LTO renewal, they can complete the process from the safety and convenience of their own homes – so long as they have a stable internet connection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions about the process? Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about renewing your driver’s license through the eGovPH app:

Delivery is typically within 72 hours (3 business days), though this may take longer in remote areas.
